Bryant Park is an urban public space. It is a green Manhattan miniature. A miniature of its structure. The flower beds are the city's blocks, the "hippodamian" paths' organization are the avenues and the lawn is Central Park, where people are "left" to behave as they like . The tall and massive trees are the skyscrapers. People are alone in a dense environment. The actual city is differentiated from the park in terms of rythmn. The "city" that has all the qualifications, the...ingredients for a social life ends up satisfying mostly peronal needs rather than public.
