Interviewee: Kate, Pearl Paint employee, middle aged caucasian woman., 5:30pm How many years have you worked at Pear? ---7 years Do you like working here? ---Of Course!! (Laughing) I promise this is just for school, I'm not a mole sent by the higher-ups... ---(still laughing) What do you think the clientelle is mostly... artists, students hobbyists? ---toss up, (pauses) because people think they're artists. Do you think the clientelle has changed over the past seven years? ---fewer artists. How do you define an artist? ---someone who works to make art, not doing it just for fun. I guess. Are you an artist? ---yes. What's your medium? ---many. Do you work on the paints and brushes floor because you paint? ---I do mostly painting yes. Do you get your supplies at Pearl? ---Of Course! (laughing, again) Anywhere else on Canal street? Canal Plastics? ---no. Do you like the neighborhood? ---probably not. Would you ever want to live on Canal Street? --No WAY!!
